It means to recognize, accept, and proactively manage my strengths and weaknesses, while seeking to turn threats into opportunities. It means to laugh, LOVE, and live each day with joy, contentment, faith, and gratitude for all the things that God has blessed me with... and then to share this positive energy so that others too might be blessed! Learning to live like this makes each encounter and every part of my day more valuable as I know that I am building a life that is based on "authentic" relationships - where I know others and am known for who I really am. But in order to be true to oneself, one must know oneself. So the true essence of living authentically is being able to know not only who you are, but how to accept your true self and live that truth everyday. I believe the challenge with living authentically is that there are often times things about ourselves that we dont realize or accept, and we therefore dont remain true to ourselves. The key to authentically is enlightment. You cant be true to yourself if you havent realized who the true you is. what does it mean to live authentically? to be true to oneself is what first comes to mind. Also, reading "A New Earth", bringing stillness and presence into my life whenever I can - I'm sure Eckhart would say that this silent state is our "authentic" self.
