I received a letter a few days ago. This is unusual I thought. It was a perfect little package and I was immediately taken by its appearance. The envelope was made of heavy stock and in the perfect shade of Celadon green (my favorite). It was adorned with a beautiful stamp and my name was written with a light and delicate penmanship. I paid close attention to the curves of the c’s and the roundness of the a’s. Who writes letters anymore?
Upon opening the letter, I discovered it was from a dear friend in Hawaii. It was nearly two pages long. I read each word with care for they were so descriptive. I felt as if I was there in her presence. She spoke of our days as teenagers growing up in New York City and how the air was the morning she decided to write me. I felt so special.
These days we are too pre-occupied and too much in a hurry to indulge in such ancient rituals. Oh, we communicate better than ever but the art of putting pen to paper is becoming a lost art. We prefer wireless and love to take words apart. We IM and LOL then it is B4N.
Today, why not write someone a letter or just a simple note. Go to a stationary store and pick up some stationary and purchase a beautiful stamp. Write a letter to your husband, lover or 5 year old child. I guarantee you’ll make their day.
Let your words soar today.
